PREVIEW: MATCH 29 – Raval Sporting v Catalunya CC – European Cricket Series Barcelona

Tune in to the live action Wednesday from 9am CEST * 8am UK * 7am GMT * 12:30pm IST from the Montjuïc ground in Barcelona, Spain.

Team Preview for Raval Sporting

Raval Sporting CC sit third in Group B at the moment, with two wins from three matches played. They will need to keep picking up wins if they're going to challenge for a top two position and a spot in the semi-finals.

Captain: Ishan Patel

Main Wicketkeeper: Kishitij Patel

Key Players:

Ishan Patel is the key to Raval’s performance and the captain is currently their leading run-scorer and wicket-taker for the series. His decision to promote himself to open the innings was a masterstroke against Joves Units on Monday, scoring an authoritative 59 to lead his team to victory. He has also picked up six wickets in Barcelona with a best bowling of 4/10 and economy rate of only 7.16 runs per over.

Gaurang Mahyavanshi was Raval Sporting’s leading wicket-taker in T20s this season and he has also been effective in the ECS with five wickets so far. Going at less than a run-a-ball, he is one bowler who the opposition find difficult to get away.

Manish Manwani is a very versatile player with bat and ball. He has been steady so far, but will need to take his game to the next level if Raval are to challenge for the top two spot they need to progress in the tournament.

Team Preview for Catalunya CC

We saw Catalunya CC in the European Cricket League in 2019 as Spain’s representatives at the Champions League of European Cricket. They have made a flawless start to the ECS, unbeaten after three matches and it is only net run rate which is keeping them out of top spot in Group B. They will want to continue their winning run against Raval Sporting on Wednesday morning.

Captain: Muhammad Armghan Khan

Main Wicketkeeper: Rauf Zaman

Key Players:

Muhammad Armghan Khan is the BIG MAK, who shot to fame in 2019 leading Catalunya CC in the ECL 2019. He is currently their leading run-scorer in the European Cricket Series and I expect him to open the batting. I would like to see him bowl a bit more, he can bowl with good control and has a clever change of pace.

Ali Azam has been the most effective bowler this week for Catalunya CC, with five wickets to his name. He concedes only seven runs per over and has a best bowling of 3 for 11, so will be looking to keep his form up as we move into the second half of the series in Barcelona.

Syed Khawar Raza Sherazi hasn't set the world on fire in this series but he was the leading wicket taker in the European Cricket League last year, so I think he's always a dangerous bowler.

Mr Maximo’s tip: CATALUNYA CC

I think that one of the keys to Raval Sporting making the semi-finals will be winning one or both of their showdowns against one of the current unbeaten teams, Catalunya CC and Falco. This game presents such an opportunity but I see too much class and depth in the Catalunya CC lineup, so I believe BIG MAK’s men will get the job done in the first match of four T10s on Wednesday, live and exclusive on the European Cricket Network!
