Team Preview for Prague Spartans Vanguards

Prague Spartans Vanguards qualified in the second week of action in Velvary.  They have some bowling depth, with eight of their players taking wickets so far.  They have to improve as a batting unit if they are to make a serious tilt at the championship.

Captain: Neeraj Tyagi

Main Wicket-Keeper: Ghanshyam Kumar

Key Players:

Neeraj Tyagi has been exceptional with the ball.  He has taken six wickets from his eight overs so far, at an economy rate of only 3.62.  He will have his hands full against some very strong batsmen this weekend.

Prasanaa Ganesan is the Vanguard’s leading run scorer, while being very effective with the ball as well.  His economy rate is also significantly low when called to the bowling crease, only giving away 4.20 runs per over to the opposition.

Farooq Abdullah-Shaik has been reliable with the ball without setting the world on fire.  He would love to step things up when it counts the most.

Team Preview for Brno Rangers

The Rangers prevailed to be the Kings of Brno and became the fourth and final qualifiers for the ultimate prize.  But do they have what it takes to go all the way?  Clearly the best fielding team we’ve seen in Czechia so far, this could be the difference.  It will be interesting to see how they perform in the big city!

Captain: Naveed Ahmed

Main Wicket-Keeper: Ushan Gunathilake

Key Players:

Rahat Ali has been the best bowler in the tournament so far.  He has picked up eight wickets while only giving opposing batsmen an unbelievable 2.87 per over.  His 3 for 0 in the final was very memorable, but I’ll be fascinated to see how he goes against stronger opposition.

Ushan Gunathilake was one of my most favourite players to watch in the preliminary weekends.  A very skilful wicketkeeper and reliable batsman, he has the quickest hands in Eastern Europe and he’s not afraid to use them!

Tripurari Kanhya Lal has been a very versatile performer for the Rangers.  He has picked up six wickets at an economy rate of only 4.00, whilst scoring 30 valuable runs for his team.

MR MAXIMO’S TIP: BRNO RANGERS

All of these games have the potential to be close contests, which is why I think the superior fielding skills of the Rangers are going to be the difference in this match, taking them to victory over the Vanguards.
