ECN Czech Super Series features 16 teams in a series of four tournaments, the winners of each series will advance to a Finals Day weekend in the Czech capital Prague on July 11 & 12.

REPORT: DAY 1 – GROUP 1 - June 13/14 – ECN CZECH SUPER SERIES

In the opening ECN Czech Super Series T10 contest, Prague Barbarians Visigoths got their campaign off to a good start against United CC, chasing down 72 with sumptuous ease with Sumit Pokhriyal and Player of the Match Sahil Grover knocking off the target with 19 balls to spare.

Visigoths were looking primed for back-to-back victories against Bohemian CC but collapsed from a promising 47 for no loss after 6 overs to a disappointing 61-8. A buoyant Bohemian side coasted to their target with 4 overs remaining, showing exactly the sort of form that took them to T20 Division 2 League title last season.

Boasting “The Beast” Sudesh Roy Dias Wickramasekara - scorer of the fastest-ever T20i century in 35 balls - a record he shares with Rohit Sharma and David Miller, Prague CC Kings were strong favourites against newly formed outfit, United, in the penultimate game of the day.

T20 Division 1 Winners for the past two seasons and the most successful team in Czech League history, Prague CC Kings posted 85 off their allocation with that man Sudesh Roy Dias Wickramasekara smashing a sublime 46 off 28 balls including 5x4, 3x6.

In reply, United CC, making their competitive debut as a club, never looked like threatening the Kings total but will be better for the experience on the big-stage.

Bohemian CC met Prague CC Kings in the final match of the day as the clouds started to roll menacingly over the Vinor Cricket Ground (VCG) in Prague, Czech Republic.

Batting first again, Prague CC Kings posted an imposing 83 off their allocation and looked winners for the vast majority of the game. However, in a breath-taking finish, an exhilarating Bohemian Rhapsody ensued in search of the highest run chase of the day. Savage late hitting from skipper Javed Iqbal and Sazib Bhuiyan (36 off 20) brought the target within sight and Bohemian brilliantly reached the target with three balls to spare, maintaining a 100 per cent record going into FINALS DAY. Special mention must go to Bohemian’s Sazib Bhuiyan for his two-wicket burst to go with earlier figures of FOUR for three in his side’s win vs Visigoths in spectacular back-to-back match-winning performances.
