PREVIEW: MATCH 1 – Zurich Nomads vs Zurich Crickets – Dream11 European Cricket Series St Gallen

Tune in to the live action Monday from 9am CEST * 8am UK * 7am GMT * 12:30pm IST from the Grundenmoos ground in the city of St Gallen, Switzerland.

Team Preview for Zurich Nomads

The Zurich Nomads CC are one of the oldest cricket clubs in Switzerland and boast some of the best players in the country. They are currently the T20 and Cricket Switzerland Premier League defending champions. They have won the CSPL four out of the last six seasons.

Captain: Azeem Nazir

Main Wicket-keeper: Hassan Ahmad

Key Players:

Azeem Nazir has captained Switzerland at international level and will look to lead from the front in this first match of the series.  Look out for him at the top of the order.

Faheem Nazir is arguably the best player in Switzerland right now.  It will be very interesting to see if he can carry his form into the ten over format.  I would expect to see him opening the batting in this match.

Hassan Ahmad is a talented wicket-keeper and hard hitting middle-order batsman.  He is particularly strong square of the wicket and I’m sure he would be planning on hitting plenty of balls out of the Grundenmoos ground in St Gallen this week.

Team Preview for Zurich Crickets

The Crickets are a very young side, with an average age of only 19.  Despite their inexperience at senior level, they showed their potential last season by reaching the final of the CSPL.  They will be looking to push the more experienced Nomads line-up today.

Captain & Main Wicket-Keeper: Nicolas Henderson

Key Players:

Nicolas Henderson is the leader of the side, despite being only 21 years of age himself.  As captain and wicketkeeper, he has a lot of responsibility on the big stage in this first clash of the series.  He is likely to bat in the middle order for his team.

Baljit Singh is an opening batsman who will look to anchor the Cricket’s innings.  He will have to manage the new ball and make sure they get off to a fast enough start to challenge the Nomads.

Noorkhan Ahmadi could be thrown up the order in search of a quick runs early.  He will also chip in with the ball and look to keep things tight in the middle overs.

Mr Maximo’s tip: Zurich Nomads

The Crickets are an exciting, young team but I can’t see the Nomads having too many problems in registering a win in this first game of the St Gallen series.  Possessing a very powerful batting unit, the Nomads will show why they are arguably the best team in the country.
